Biography

John J. Waldron focuses his practice exclusively on criminal defense matters. Based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he provides representation to clients throughout the commonwealth and is based in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania since 1982, Mr. Waldron is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Waldron's client base comprises people who have been charged by Pennsylvania or federal authorities with having committed felony or misdemeanor offenses. A significant portion of his caseload consists of drug possession and trafficking, but he has also handled murder and other violent crimes, burglary, theft, and white collar crimes such as fraud, bank robbery and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Many of his cases have received widespread publicity, including one in which he successfully represented a multimillionaire real estate developer who had been accused of murder. Throughout his distinguished career as defense counsel, Mr. Waldron has been able to obtain positive results for his clients, through dismissals, acquittals, the negotiation of favorable plea agreements with prosecutors, and reversals at the appellate level, and this has led to a great deal of recognition from his colleagues, including an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Waldron attended La Salle University as an undergraduate, majoring in psychology and receiving a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude in 1978. He then obtained his legal education at Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 1982. Mr. Waldron was an assistant district attorney in Lehigh County before entering private practice in 1987, and his professional memberships include the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
